Rust is a performant and secure systems programming lan- guage, achieved through a clever region-based type system. While effective in many cases, it can also reject intuitive and safe code. To reduce reliance on workarounds, its type system must evolve. One promising direction is view types, which aim to increase function call flexibility and enable cleaner code. However, view types are a new language fea- ture that must be carefully designed. It is also critical to ensure soundness — especially in a landscape where Rust formal models are still young and rapidly evolving.
